About
Richard Read found his passion for design in childhood and he has since become one of California’s most sought-after interior designers. His designs are known for their unique, sophisticated style, inspired by eclectic textures, color palette combos, mixed metals and distinctive art. His talents can be applied to any project including single-family homes, condos and town homes.
Richard opened an interior design and furniture showroom in Palm Desert in 2015 where customers can purchase furniture, furnishings and lighting. He doesn’t get caught up in trends but creates an individual style for each client.
His lavish, diverse residential designs and furnishings have led Richard to design projects throughout the Palm Springs area, Orange County and Washington State. He has a full team of employees and contractors who work behind the scenes to ensure your project is professionally completed on schedule.
Richard’s curiosity and passion for design came at an early age. He was born and raised in Sacramento—a fourth generation member of a family specializing in construction and architecture. He grew up on construction sites and had a drafting table at 11 years old. He spent his teenage years studying floor plans and drawing his own designs.
His passion for design led him to obtain an interior design degree from Sacramento State in 2007. During college, he discovered a passion for the desert when his family bought a vacation home in La Quinta. Following his first visit, he spent as much time possible in the desert and eventually relocated to the Palm Springs area in 200X.
In a little over a decade, Richard has earned many accolades including making the 40 Under Forty list for Palm Springs Life Magazine.

Richard Read Interiors offers full service design including space planning, furniture selection, lighting, architectural fixtures, paint and finish selections, wallpaper, art and window treatments. Richard personally manages the design process from concept through construction and installation.
New construction and complete remodels
Whether it’s from the ground up or a complete remodel, we offer project management services, 3D conceptual drawings, finish and materials selection and all other specifications. Richard’s specialty is furniture design and he has the resources to fabricate custom designs only for your home.

Our Palm Desert showroom features furniture, accessories and lighting. We have cultivated great relationships with vendors exclusive to our showroom to ensure fast shipping times from in-stock vendors.
